Clothes have always held importance in my eyes. More so as I have gotten older. I can’t quite recall when it exactly happened. When clothes weren’t as much as a necessity to just cover my back. They became an obsession. I had a growing adoration for fashion and magazines. I began racking up hours of time flipping through Vogue, Seventeen, and Marie Claire looking for new trends and only sometimes having the courage to try them out. In high school, my love of fashion only grew, and I realized that I wanted nothing more for my life then to work at a fashion magazine. So I joined yearbook, hoping to gain some experience with the computer and photo shop. I did, although unfortunately, all that knowledge has leaked out of my brain by now. In high school, I would holdback on wearing bold fashion statements, scared of what others would think of me, but now I go to Columbia College Chicago, studying Fashion business, where literally, anything goes. It’s come to my attention, that I don’t take enough risks. I live in the City of Chicago and go to school with hundreds of risk takers, and I’m really not one of them. So I have decided as the first semester ends and the second semester approaches that it’s time to step up my game, and really explore my sense of style. I invite you do join me! I made this blog publicly, so readers would feel inspired to take some risks and leaps of faith when it comes to fashion because that’s what’s so darn fun about it. Explore your wardrobe. At first glance, it might look like the same old stuff that you’ve had for months, but take a deeper look. Feel, try on, perhaps give away, and start with a fresh perspective. If you decide to take this challenge on with me, or just choose to follow along, I really hope you enjoy.

 

Another challenge that I am taking on is fitness and food. (Eww, I know) So last year I took my first semester of college off and worked. I told my parents’ that getting a personal trainer was something I had always really wanted and it would be something I was committed to with all this time off. They agreed, and I got one. And committed I was. I was working out with my trainer 3 days a week, and going to the gym on my own the other 3 and had one day of rest. My diet was pretty great and I ended up loosing around 8 pounds. While that doesn’t seem like a lot, I gained a heck of a lot of muscle and was in the best shape of my life. I stopped seeing my amazing trainer when I started going to Columbia in the spring, and while I continued to maintain my exercise and diet for a while, like diets and fitness plans most time do, it fell apart. Now, I have lost a lot of motivation to work out and since I’m living away from my family, my dinners mainly consist of frozen Chinese, pasta, and Jimmy John’s. So I’ve decided to venture into that dreaded good eating and good fitness mind set once again and really try and reach my goal weight. I’ve also decided to do this publicly, because I figured it would be awesome motivation. I will be forced to post about it at least 3 times a week, and share with my readers my progress. So again, I really encourage you to start this journey with me. Because creating a healthier life style is so much easier when you’re doing it with someone else. So let’s all get hot bodies together. Starting now will ensure a great bathing suit body for spring break. Now, I am no fitness expert, so I don’t want anyone yelling at me for not seeing results, but I do remember a lot from my trainer and will share that advice with you. I invite you to post advice to me as I am always open to suggestions, and share you’re progress with me. You’re success will motivate me to keep working even harder.

 

So as the New Year gets close, let’s take on these resolutions together and start a bit early. Take risks with me. Whether it’s wearing a pair of crazy colored pumps to school, or trying out a different piece of equipment at the gym, know that either way people are admiring you for trying something new.

    a good dinner replacement if your craving a burger is a boca burger. i’m a red meat free girl and they have changed my life!! black bean burgers and tomato mozzarella are my favorite ones! also, cardio is where i get the most bored. so i go very hardcore for only 20-25 minutes maximum and you will still get results as long as you go hard (on and off. ex: run fast 2 minutes, walk 1 minute)

    I just found your blog! I’m so happy for you! You’re really getting some motivation and setting goals that will go with you through your whole life! I’m not into fashion – never have been. It’s jeans and a t-shirt for me all the way!! :o) But, I do need to lose weight and get in more exercise, so I’ll be following your fitness posts. (I just might peek at the fashion ones, too!) Love you!!
